Zu alt zum Arbeiten, zu jung zum Sterben, gerade richtig zum Reisen. ...........................................................................Too old to work, too young to die, just right to travel.
Today (2017.02.28) we traveled from Souvignargues to Apt (125 km). Here in the region, we visited two interesting places. First was Saignon an old city on a hill and second the village of Roussillon, which was built on a hill with stones of a strong ochre color. The picture shows the city of Saignon.
Today we traveled from Alzonne to Souvignargues (251 km). We visited the two medieval cities of Carcassonne and Vézénobres. Carcassonne is a well known walled city with a lot of tourists. Vézénobres is a hidden gem without a wall and tourists, where people still live in the city. The picture shows an entrance to the city of Carcassonne with towers and walls.
Today we traveled from Elne to Alzonne in France (158 km). On the way, we visited the cities of Le Barcarés, Narbonne and Carcassonne. The picture shows the «Canal de la Robine», which flows through Narbonne. Interesting are the buildings over the canal. In the background is the Cathedral of Narbonne.
Today we traveled from Esponellà in Spain to Elen in France (84 km). On the way, we visited Cerbère, the first city in France. When I traveled back from Spain about 45 years ago, I spent a night in the waiting room of the train station in this city. All trains from Spain stop here because the Spanish train system uses wider tracks as the rest of Europe. In the waiting room, I saw a guy I thought I know him, but I was not brave enough to talk to him. Two days later at home, I found out it was Thomas the little brother of Stefan, a colleague of mine. Today I'm married to their sister for 36 years. The picture shows Cerbère. The long building on the left side is the train station.
Today we traveled from Barcelona to Port Lligat and to our campground in Esponellà (223 km). In Portlligat Salvator Dali had a house. We wanted to see that. But because it was raining in the morning we went shopping too long and arrived in Portlligat when the sun was going to set. My picture shows Portlligat and maybe you can recognize the sculpture on Salvator Dali's house.
Today we visited the city of Valencia in Spain. I was here the first time 45 years ago and during my Ugra time many times to teach seminars, to speak at a color conference and to attend conferences. Valencia is a beautiful, dynamic and clean city. My picture shows the science and art museums designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, who studied in Switzerland and has offices in Zurich and New York.
Today we traveled from Malaga to Toledo in Spain (495 km). The way led us through hilly landscapes with billions of olive trees. Toledo is a city with a great history. Cigarrals are large estates from the 15th century, which are used as hotels or restaurants today. This one is just next to our campground.
Today we traveled from Tazzarine to Merzouga in Morocco (192 km). We reached the most eastern point of our trip in Morocco. Further east would be dangerous because near the Algerian border sometimes tourists get kidnapped by Islamist militants and maybe come free for a ransom again. We stopped our RV on a campground just before the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi as my picture shows.
Today we traveled from Ouarzazate to Tazzarine in Morocco (172 km). Before we left Ouarzazate we visited the two film studios. It's cheap to produce movies here. Many well-known movies like Cleopatra, Ben Hur, Gladiator, The little Buddha and much more were shot here. The landscape here fits very well with biblical of historical themes. Then we drove through dessert-like landscapes to Tazzarine. Villages and towns are now oases as my picture shows of our campground in Tazzarine.

Danke für deinen Kommentar. Ich denke oft an die Zeit mit dir in Lima. Uns geht es gut. Wir wohnen wieder in St. Gallen und können wegen Corona seit einem Jahr nicht mehr reisen. Bis bald
